Gatlinburg, TN is a small town located at the end of Hwy 441, or as we call it locally, the Parkway.  There are only 2 main roads through town and off of each of these roads lie hundreds if not thousands of shops, diners, cafes, & popular attractions including miniature golf and fun for families or couples.   ripleysdclogoWith the exception of Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, Gatlinburg is a walking town, designed for foot traffic.  So if your staying out of town in Pigeon Forge, Sevierville or the Mountains, the goal is definitely to find a parking spot at the main parking garage across from Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies and continue forth on foot.

gaa-logoYou can plan an entire day in Gatlinburg, and have several different experiences!  You can spend a day experiencing Gatlinburg’s rich cultural heritage, exploring the Glade’s Arts & Crafts Community where artisans have gathered to celebrate their handmade crafts & traditional methods of creation.   The Glades Arts and Crafts community is comprised of an eight-mile loop where you’ll find a wide variety of art galleries, potters, independent artist showrooms, basket-making studios, wood carving & painting all while tooling around this old time feel community.   The Arrowmont School of Arts is an important contribution to the cultural teachings in Gatlinburg, TN and provides education for both visitors & locals on traditions & skills of days gone by.

BelieveItorNotThere are also the mainstream attractions several highly themed Miniature Golf courses, 3 Ripley’s theme park/rides:  Aquarium of the Smokies, Believe it or Not Museum & the Haunted Adventure.  aquariumFor more adventurous & athletic types, Gatlinburg is also home to Tennessee’s only Ski Resort with a few slopes to challenge every skiier or rider!  Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort & Amusement Park also has an indoor ice skating rink available year round, an arcade, restaurant, shops & a Black Bear Habitat.

Ober_LogoYou can drive to Ober Gatlinburg if you like, but we always suggest you take a ride on the Tram!  Enjoy spectacular views of Gatlinburg’s parkway and attractions from the 120 passenger tramway car which picks you up on the parkway and delivers you safely to the top of the mountain at the Amusement Park & Resort.

Lakefront Cabin Rental homes located on Douglas Lake are approximately 30 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, TN and it is easily reachable by the main Parkway through Pigeon Forge, as well as through scenic back roads leading into the Glades Art’s & Crafts Community.
